Rob piloting the birdThis is really cool! I love helicopters so when I heard about the Helicopter Skyline Tour at Atlantic City’s steel pier I had to ask my son if he would go with me on a ride. Robert Jr smiled as I told him about it, the last few weekends had rain so we are planning to go this saturday 6/27/09. You take off from the helicopter pad right at the end of the pier and go up and down the coast and around Atlantic City, sounds super fun! These kinds of things are really great to do with kids.
Still remember our 1st time parasailing, he was only 5 and as the boat made its way out of the bay to the ocean I could that some of the other people on the tour were getting a little nervous, one high schooler looked over at us and asked me “how old is he”, when I said 5 they were suprised such a young kid was going on such an adventure. I plan to take many pictures and video. A friend of mine owns Helicopter Flight Services over at Flying W. Airport and I was lucky enough to log 10 whole hours in a helicopter way back a yonder! Helicopter blades chopping through the air always sound so cool! So I really am looking forward to doing this with my son, wish us luck and come back to see some pictures that I plan to post!

Asperatus

cloudA four person panel at the Royal Meteorological Society in Reading, England is currently evaluating the ‘Asperatus’ to determine if it does indeed represent a new type of cloud. If they conclude affirmatively, the Society will assist Mr. Gavin Pretor-Pinney, founder of the Cloud Appreciation Society, in applying to the World Meterolological Organization to have the new cloud type considered for additon into the International Cloud Atlas. If recognized, it would be the first new cloud type since the 1950′s. Wonder if it has anything to do with the over 60 years of experimentation in weather control. More here:
